Go to and click on "Create a comics page with a prompt". You can then select an art style, number of panels, and then enter a prompt. Shortbread will generate one page according to your prompt.
Here are several different ways you can prompt in the big magic box. Feel free to combine these techniques however you want -
You can just tell a story. Shortbread will design the characters, scenes and camera shots and fill in the details for you. Sample prompt:
Sam is a newbie college student. He goes to an arcade, and meets a mysterious man in a hood who offers him a flashy mysterious game console.
When you do this, remember: you can only include one main character in a panel. Trying to create multiple characters in the same panel is not currently supported, although sometimes it works by accident. In Shortbread 1.0 (To be released soon), we will enable the creation of more complex scenes involving multiple characters interacting.
Sam is a young male college student. Panel 1: He walks on the street of NYC. Panel 2: He walks into a coffee shop with a lot of plants. Panel 3: he stands in line waiting for coffee. Panel 4: He drinks his favorite latte and cries, close up shot.
(Also, the number of panels in your prompt MUST match the number of panels in the selected layout. If not, Shortbread will be confused and likely error out.)
Ok, you want Sam to be a boy with slick back hair instead, and he wears a black suit and tie. You can add these too.
Adding a color to each feature of the character, and adding details about appearance and clothing, generally helps Shortbread always draw the character the same way.
Sample prompt:
Sam (with blue hair, slick back hair, intelligent brown eyes, wearing a black suit and tie) goes to an arcade, and meets a mysterious man in a hood who offers him a flashy mysterious game console.
You can tell Shortbread what you want each scene to look like. For example. in the prompt below I'm directing the camera shots and not necessarily the plot. Shortbread followed it closely.
@pocahontas stands on a cliff by the ocean in soft morning light. Show a front view, side view, and back view.
Can you create a page with just characters and no background? Let's try. (I used the realistic style here)
A girl with silk black long hair, bangs, deep black eyes and red puffy lips, white shirt. Show her face, angry, happy, sad, calm. Use simple white background for all the panels
Cool, that worked. How about just background and no characters?
A classy Japanese high school. Show its beauty in four seasons. No characters needed.
We built the prompt-to-comic feature to enable you to kick start your story as quickly as possible! If you have any requirements on character design, scene design, background, character action ... you can try anything. Just tell the AI in the big magic box.
In Shortbread, you can use pre-trained character AI models to create consistent characters. Try typing @ and use one of the pre-trained characters. You can see the available @characters, and sign up for our @character creation tool alpha in .
